The Günther mill is a post mill in Neundorf on the property . It is considered to be one of the smallest windmills in Upper Lusatia .

history

The mill was first mentioned in the church records of the city of Bernstadt in 1802 ; its first owner was the master miller Gottlieb Müller. After that, the mill changed hands several times until it finally passed into the possession of the Günther family in 1892. After its closure in 1962, the mill was left to decay.

After reunification, the idea arose to reconstruct the ailing mill. The municipal council of Großhennersdorf contacted experts, the Kamenz Office for Rural Reorganization and the Dresden Regional Council with the request to include the reconstruction in a funding program. On June 22, 1991, the community of Großhennersdorf acquired the mill from its owners, Helmut and Gottfried Günther. This was followed by an assessment by the mill builder Klaus Kirchner, who submitted a cost estimate for the reconstruction of the mill.

To support the project, some citizens founded the "Bockwindmühle Neundorf auf dem Eigen eV" on December 13, 1991. The groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction took place on August 26, 1993, and the Mühlenbock was erected on September 13, 1993. The mill housing including the new main shaft and the double comb wheel were completed on December 31, 1993. In 1994 the housing was closed with boards, the floors pulled in, the roof covered with wooden shingles and the restored weather vane put on. Sterz, as well as the internal and external stairs, were completed in 1995. The wings could be attached in 1996, as well as the brake and the overhang arch.
