Günther Klein
Günther Klein (born September 28, 1956 in Flensburg ) is a German director , author and university lecturer .
Live and act
Günther Klein was born in Flensburg and was given an 8 mm film camera at the age of nine . Filmmaking became his passion. After graduating from high school in Flensburg , he studied Protestant theology, journalism and public law in Munich, Vienna and Mainz. He also worked regularly as a writer and director for Bayerischer Rundfunk, RIAS Berlin and SWR. From the mid-1980s he was the author and director of the ZDF series 'Travel Pictures from the GDR', one of the first cross-cultural television series between the Federal Republic of Germany and the GDR.
During this time, he created numerous fictional features and documentaries for SWR Mainz, including the small television game 'Eifel', which was awarded the Prix Europa as program of the year in 1988 .
From 1991 to 2005 Günther Klein headed the editorial team of IFAGE-Tellux-Film in Wiesbaden and, in cooperation with ZDF, developed the first successful, docufictional primetime programs, which still have a large audience under the label ' Terra X '.
Under his conceptual direction and participation as an author and director, innovative documentary television series emerged, such as the 13-part ARD millennium series ' 2000 Years of Christianity ', which was awarded the Bavarian TV Prize in 2001. In collaboration with ZDF he designed the series ' Terra X: Imperium ' with actor Maximilian Schell , Quo vadis ',' Sphinx - Secrets of History ',' Green and Colorful ',' Giants 'and most recently in 2013' The Story of beauty 'with the actress Senta Berger .
Günther Klein has been teaching at the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences since 2006 . He represents the professorship 'Film' in the Communication Design course and is a mentor of the 'Masterclass Non-Fiction' at the IFS Cologne / International Film School Cologne .
