Günther Pokrant

Günther Pokrant (born July 14, 1950 ) is a German lawyer and former judge at the Federal Court of Justice .

Career

After completing his legal training, Pokrant joined the higher judicial service in Lower Saxony in early 1979. After serving at the district courts of Aurich and Delmenhorst as well as the district court and the public prosecutor's office in Oldenburg, he was appointed judge at the district court Delmenhorst in January 1984 and then in March 1986 as judge at the district court Oldenburg . On March 1, 1989, he was promoted to judge at the Oldenburg Higher Regional Court . Following a secondment to the Federal Constitutional Court from 1990 to 1992, where he was assigned to the department of the Federal Constitutional Court judge Johann Friedrich Henschel as a research assistant , he moved - until March 1994 on a secondment basis - to the Oldenburg Higher Regional Court. There he was promoted to presiding judge at the Higher Regional Court on April 30, 1996. On August 8, 1996 he was appointed judge at the Federal Court of Justice. He was a member of the First Civil Senate of the Federal Court of Justice , which is primarily responsible for competition, trademark and copyright law as well as transport law . Since November 2010, he has been a deputy member of the Joint Senate of the highest federal courts for this Senate. He was particularly interested in transport law in all its forms, but also in competition and trademark law. He retired on September 30, 2014 at his own request.
