Günther Ruffert
Günther Ruffert (born July 23, 1927 in Essen , † April 26, 2010 in Thailand ) was a German book author and civil engineer .
Life
Ruffert worked as a civil engineer in Germany for almost four decades and wrote a number of specialist books on concrete repair and shotcrete . In the course of his assignments abroad, he came into contact with Thailand as early as the 1960s.
After reaching retirement age in 1990, he emigrated to the Isan in Thailand . Ruffert has since lived in his wife's hometown, a small village of Ban Tamiang on the Cambodian border. He dealt with sugar cane cultivation and ran a gas station. In addition, he reported in books and articles about his experiences in this rural environment. He wrote three books about Thailand, which mainly shed light on everyday life, for example culture , emigration , German-Thai partnerships . He also wrote columns in German-language newspapers in Thailand and articles in Thailand-related online publications. Most of his works can still be read today on the website of the German-language magazine DER FARANG (Pattaya) in the columns under Ein Fenster zum Isaan .
