Günther Siebert

Günther Siebert (born January 28, 1920 in Berlin ; † January 23, 1991 ) was a German physician , physiologist and university professor; he was Rector of the University of Hohenheim (LWH) from 1969 to 1970.

Live and act

After graduating from high school in Berlin, Siebert studied medicine at the universities of Freiburg , Munich and Berlin . He passed his medical state examination in 1944 at the University of Berlin, in 1945 he received his doctorate as Dr. med. at the same university. He then moved to the University of Mainz as a research assistant, where he completed his habilitation in 1951 with Venia legendi in the field of physiological chemistry as a private lecturer. From 1955 to 1956 he conducted research at the Department for Biochemistry at New York University . After his return, Siebert became an adjunct professor at the University of Mainz in 1957 and received a visiting professorship at the medical faculty Condi Shapoor in Iran (1960) and visiting professor in Houston , Texas. In 1967 he accepted the call as full professor at the chair for nutritional sciences as professor for nutritional physiology at the Institute for Biological Chemistry at the University of Hohenheim. From 1969 to 1970 he was rector of the University of Hohenheim. In 1979 he accepted the professorship for experimental dentistry at the University of Würzburg , which he held until his retirement in 1988.
