Günther Todt
Günther Otto Todt (* July 6, 1928 ; † March 12, 2009 ) was a German marine painter and illustrator in the second half of the 20th century .
Life
As a teenager, he worked as an anti-aircraft soldier towards the end of the Second World War . This was followed by training as a graphic designer , after which he ran an office for advertising and shipping graphics in Hamburg .
He became famous for his dramatic marine paintings, with which he also took part in numerous art exhibitions. He also produced numerous commissioned works for the German Armed Forces and the German Navy , book illustrations and pictures for the model kits from Revell, among other things. Postcards of his pictures were sold at the Naval Memorial in Laboe .
