G-Taste ( Japanese ジ ィ ・ テ イ ス ト , Ji Teisuto ) is a manga by the Japanese artist Hiroki Yagami , which was published in Japan from 1997 to 2004. The work was adapted twice as OVA and can be classified in the hentai genre .

content

The manga consists of short erotic stories in which the reader usually takes on the role of a voyeur . Usually it is not nudity that is shown, but rather what is veiled. The stories are about sex between a teacher and her student and sex between women. In the later chapters the representations become more detailed and explicit.

publication

The manga appeared from July 1997 to 2004 in the manga magazine Young Magazine Uppers published by Kodansha in Japan. The chapters have also been published in seven edited volumes. A German version of the first six volumes was published by Planet Manga from October 2003 to June 2004 , after which publication was canceled. The German volume 5 corresponds to the Japanese volume 4.5. Volume 6 in German is therefore Volume 5 in Japanese.

Anime

On December 18, 1999, Green Bunny produced a seven-part OVA based on the manga. The parts are each 25 minutes long. Directed by Shunsuke Harada, the script was written by Yoshiki Imamura. The character design comes from Masaki Yamada. Translations into English, French, German and Dutch followed. The German version was published on three DVDs by Anime-Virtual , the dubbing was done with Elektrofilm.

In 2010 a second OVA came out, a 30 minute long film. The production, released on November 22, directed Katsuhiko Nishijima.

reception

According to Irene Salzmann from Splashcomics, the manga walks the fine line of what separates nude painting from pornography” and is also dedicated to the beauty of women. The stories in which the erotic images are packed are often humorous, but sometimes also stupid. G-Taste is more of an art book than a manga. Also, if the portrayals of the girls were often similar, the stories would become boring in the long run and are only something for fans of the genre.

The Animania writes about the anime, in this case, similar to the original, the plot only plays a subordinate role; "The lovely femininity with all its charms" is in the foreground. The anime offers "shallow, unpixeled entertainment" with "usual, simple erotic clichés that take a harder pace from time to time". Crucial actions are often hidden behind a bright light. The technical implementation is neat and the coloring matches the erotic content, but in terms of animation, the work is “not an outstanding viewing pleasure”. The German dubbing - like the original - is "spoken a little too intensely" and thus moves "on a suggestive erotic film level".
