225 m Panamax bulk carrier of conventional design

Japanamax is a size specification for ships . It describes a type of bulk carrier that was developed by the Japanese shipyard Ōshima Zōsensho ( 大 島 造船 所 ) in order to reach all relevant Japanese ports with grain loading with a higher loading capacity. Ships of this type are 225 m long and have a carrying capacity of 82,000 tonnes instead of the 77,000 tonnes that are usual for this ship size. A Japanamax ship is therefore a subspecies of the Panamax category in terms of dimensions .
