Very Large Ore Carrier

Under the size designation Very Large Ore Carrier (VLOC) ( English for very large ore carriers ) refers to the group of the largest currently in ore transport used bulk carriers . The next higher size designation is Ultra Large Ore Carrier (ULOC) ( English for extremely large ore carrier ).

The size indicates ore carriers that can transport more than 200,000 tons of ore. For almost a decade and a half, the largest ship of this type was Berge Stahl, which was built in South Korea in 1986 and weighed 364,768 tons. Since the end of March 2011, Vale Brasil has held this title with 402,347 tons of loading capacity.
