Medimax (ship type)
Medimax is a size specification for gas tankers . It describes the largest possible LNG tankers that can be operated in traffic between the ports of Fos-sur-Mer in France and Skikda in Algeria . The latest ships of this type are up to 240 m long and have a hold capacity of around 74,000 cubic meters with a maximum draft of 12.2 m . Older Medimax ships - still without innovations such as membrane tanks and pearlite insulation - could only transport up to 70,000 m 3 .
