Dunkirkmax is a size specification for ships . It denotes the largest ships that can just pass the east locks of the port of Dunkirk in France to reach the iron ore plant there. They are up to 289 m long, 45 m wide and have a load-bearing capacity of around 175–180,000 tons. A Dunkirkmax ship is therefore a subspecies of the Capesize category in terms of dimensions .
