The GAC Trumpchi GE 3 is an electrically powered SUV from the GAC Trumpchi sub-brand of the Chinese Guangzhou Automobile Group . The car is based on the GAC Trumpchi GS 3 powered by internal combustion engines .

history

The GE 3 was shown to the public for the first time as a near-series vehicle at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January 2017 . The manufacturer showed the production version at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2017. Sales of the GE 3 on the Chinese market began in July 2017.

In August 2018, GAC Trumpchi introduced a revised version of the SUV. In addition to minor visual changes, the capacity of the battery has been increased from 47 kWh to 54.8 kWh. This should increase the electric range to over 400 km. The output of the electric motor remained unchanged at 132 kW (179 hp).

Since October 2018, the Mitsubishi Eupheme EV, an identical model to the GE 3, has also been sold in China.

Trivia

In order not to make any reference to US President Donald Trump , the manufacturer did without the Trumpchi lettering on the rear of the GE 3's premiere . The lettering was also not visible at the European premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October 2018.
