The Chevrolet 1700 was the first General Motors car model to be produced in South Korea . The manufacturer was General Motors Korea . The model introduced in August 1972 was based on the Australian Holden LJ Torana .

Available GMK Chevrolet was in 1700 with only four-cylinder - petrol engines contributed who had a displacement of 1,698 cc and 41 kW (56 hp). However, the vehicle was also available as a five-door. Because of the 1973 oil crisis and the lack of ground clearance for the South Korean market , sales were sluggish. By the end of production in October 1978, 8,105 units of the GMK Chevrolet 1700 had been produced.

With the change in the ownership structure, the vehicle was launched as Saehan Camina from 1976 . The engine was replaced by a gasoline engine with a displacement of 1492 cm³ in order to reduce fuel consumption. As a result, the vehicle was underpowered. The model was also not adapted to the road conditions there, so that after two years of construction, production of the Saehan Camina was discontinued. 992 units were produced during this time. The successor was the Saehan Gemini .
