GNPC building (also Petroleum House )

The GNPC building (also Petroleum House ) in the West African state of Gambia has been the tallest building in the country since it was built and opened in early August 2016.

Location and description

It is thus higher than the structures previously described as the tallest buildings, for example the Sankung Sillah building , the headquarters of Sankung Sillah & Sons in Serekunda and the eight-story FutureElec building in Kotu . The GNPC building is located on Coastal Road , corner of Senegambia Highway on the north side of the Brusubi Roundabout (also known as Turntable Brusubi ).

The building is used by the Gambia National Petroleum and Energy (GNPC), the state oil company of the Gambia. The project, which costs 232,686,710  Dalasi (around EUR 5.0 million), was built by the Chinese Guangxi International Construction Engineering Corp, which also operates an office in Banjul . The construction contract was signed in April 2013.

The building has nine floors, not including the ground floor and the helicopter landing pad on the roof. The first floor has a cafeteria and a small kitchen. The second floor with, among other things, an auditorium, an exhibition room and a meeting room and six offices. Floors 3 to 7 are each used for offices. The sixth floor is reserved for the management of the GNPC. On floors seven and eight reserved for use by the Gambia Ministry of Petroleum and Energy . The office building has a total of four meeting rooms, a conference room and a boardroom. The entire usable area is given as 6000 m².
