Coastal Road

The Coastal Road or Kombo Coastal Road ( German  Kombo coastal road ) is an approximately 40 kilometer long trunk road in the West African state of Gambia .

The Coastal Road connects Kombo-St. Mary Area in the coastal region with the southern villages on the coast. Together with the Senegambia Highway and the Bertil Harding Highway , the route is around 80 kilometers long. The coastal road investment was 168 million dalasi and was carried out by the Gambian government with the help of 112 million dalasi financing from the Kuwait Fund and Arab Bank .

In addition to the better connection of the southern places in the West Coast region , the region on the Atlantic coast south from Bijilo to Kartong is to be developed for tourism in Gambia . Numerous hotels, including a second 5-star hotel in Gambia, have settled there on the coast.

The Coastal Road begins in the north at a major intersection (Brusubi Roundabout ; Brusubi = Brufut, Sukuta and Bijilo; also known as Turntable Brusubi) in the southwest of Sukuta , where a main road leads from Sukuta. The Senegambia Highway leads from the northwest, south of Bijilo and Kololi , towards this intersection and continues on the way to Banjul International Airport . After about five kilometers, the route to the southwest passes Brufut and Ghana Town . Then the road crosses the Tanji Bird Reserve . Here near Bald Cape , the road now turns south. After approximately nine kilometers from the beginning of the street, she transferred to the Tanji Bridge to Tanji and passes the location of Tanji . After another 2.7 kilometers along the road, the Tanje Village Museum is on this path. In the further course the places Batokunku , Tujereng and Sanyang will be connected. After 30 kilometers from the start of the road, Gunjur is reached and ten kilometers further south of Gambia's southernmost point, Kartong .
