GT Advanced Technologies (until 2011: GT Solar International ) is a US company in the solar industry with its headquarters in Merrimack County , New Hampshire . According to its own information, the company is a leading global provider of photovoltaic production systems for the solar industry. The company was founded in 1994 and had 2011 sales of $ 955 million.

The shares were included in the Photovoltaik Global 30 Index in 2009 . In 2011 the name was changed to GT Advanced Technologies. In 2013 and 2014, shareholders set high expectations for the company, but these were not fulfilled. The year 2014 was described in a press release by the company's management as a time of “transformation”.

After Apple announced that it would build the displays for the new Iphone generation itself and no longer obtain them from GT Advanced Technologies, bankruptcy under Chapter 11 of the United States' bankruptcy law had to be filed in October 2014 . In the course of the bankruptcy proceedings, the company's shares were taken off the stock exchange. In March 2016, the insolvency proceedings were ended and operations continued as normal.
