Gaël Monthurel (born January 22, 1966 in Conches-en-Ouche ) is a French handball coach and former handball player .
Career
The 1.83 m large and active to his Time 100 kg Gaël Monthurel was pivot player . With Vénissieux HB he became French champion in 1992 and won the cup in 1991 and 1992. In the 1991/92 European Cup Winners' Cup , he reached the quarter-finals and the semifinals in the 1992/93 European Cup . Until 1995 he played for the top club of the eighties USM Gagny . He then let his career at PSG-Asnières end.
With the French national team , Gaël Monthurel won bronze at the 1992 Olympic Games , silver at the 1993 World Cup and gold at the 1995 World Cup . At the end of his international career, he finished fourth at the 1996 Olympic Games . Between 1987 and 1996 he played a total of 257 international matches , in which he scored 292 goals.
Monthurel has coached the French clubs US Saintes HB, Gonfreville l'Orcher, Bourgoin-Jallieu, ES Falaise Calvados and CO Vernouillet since 1998. Since 2012 he has been responsible for the under 18s at the Qatari army club al-Jaish .
