The Gabelsbergerstraße is a city road in the Munich district Maxvorstadt . It leads from Oskar-von-Miller-Ring in an approximately north-westerly direction to Dachauer Straße , where it turns into Josef-Ruederer-Straße. It is a one-way street over its entire length with travel from west to east.
The Evangelical Church of St. Markus is located at Gabelsbergerstraße 6 , the State Museum of Egyptian Art and the Munich University of Television and Film with Bernd-Eichinger-Platz are located at Gabelsbergerstraße 33–35 . The Munich art area and the main site of the Technical University of Munich are located on Gabelsbergerstraße .

history
Was until its destruction during at Gabelsbergerstraße Second World War the Turks barracks .
Following a proposal from the city council in 1861, King Maximilian II approved the renaming of Kasernstrasse to Gabelsbergerstrasse after the inventor of shorthand Franz Xaver Gabelsberger . He lived in the house at Kasernstrasse 6 on the 1st floor until his death in 1849. The name of the street has been official since 1862.
The lawyer Otto von Kühlmann and the artist Heinrich Höfer lived in Gabelsbergerstrasse.
In 1977 the Hinterhoftheater (predecessor of the Wirtshaus am Hart ) was founded at Gabelsbergerstraße 50 and was located there until mid-1980.
