Individual evidence

  1. In the statistics of the German Hockey Federation she is listed as Gabriela Schöwe after her marriage, the Sports Reference database lists her as Gaby Schley-Schöwe, in the 1988 Olympic brochure she is called Gabriela Schöwe-Schley. In most cases where it is unclear whether an athlete actually competed under a double name, the athlete never had a double name. It is assumed that in the present case, too, the double name only served to clarify that the athlete was already successful under her maiden name.
