From the fifth day of the Apertura 2012 onwards, Amparán was the assistant coach of the CD Estudiantes Tecos . At the end of the season, the Tecos, who have been in the top Mexican division since 1975, relegated for the first time in 37 years, so that Amparán experienced his second relegation as a coach.
