Gabriel Busquets Aparicio

Gabriel Busquets Aparicio (born April 10, 1950 in Inca ) is a Spanish diplomat .

Life

He studied law at the University of Barcelona until 1977 and then entered the Spanish diplomatic service. From March 16, 1977 he was first third, then from May 30, 1977 second embassy secretary at the Spanish embassy in Ethiopia . On June 20, 1979 he became consul in the Spanish Consulate General in Frankfurt am Main , Germany . This was followed from April 20, 1983 as consul in Antwerp and Liège . He returned to Spain and on September 1, 1986, he became Head of the Cultural Cooperation Sub-Department of the Cultural Relations Department at the Spanish Foreign Ministry in Madrid . On October 29, 1987, he was appointed envoy of the Spanish embassy in Germany, until he was appointed to the same position in Morocco on August 1, 1992 . In November 1995 he worked as a representative for the Euro-Mediterranean Conference in Barcelona .

In 1996 he worked for the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a representative for Mediterranean issues. He then took on the role of ambassador to Iran on March 21, 1997 . In 2000 he returned to Spain and from July 28th was head of the Mediterranean, Middle East and Africa department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He carried out this task until he became ambassador to Germany on May 31, 2004. After serving as ambassador to Algeria on August 29, 2008, he was special advisor to the Directorate-General Maghreb, Africa, Mediterranean and Middle East from 2013 and ambassador for Mediterranean issues from 2014. He then took over the post of Spanish ambassador to Sweden on April 20, 2017 .
