Gabriel Wolcker

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gabriel Wolcker (baptized June 8, 1715 in Schelklingen ; † after 1760 and before October 14, 1783 in Oberschwarzach in Lower Franconia ) was a German high baroque painter in Lower Franconia.

resume

Gabriel Wolcker was the seventh son of Johann Georg Wolcker the Elder . Like his brothers, he probably also trained as a painter with his father.

Little is known of Gabriel. His last known place of residence and residence was Markt Oberschwarzach in the district of Schweinfurt in Lower Franconia, Bavaria. Gabriel probably married Eva Barbara in the Wiesentheid market , whose last name is unknown. The couple apparently later settled in Oberschwarzach. The daughter Maria Anna was born there on February 23, 1760.

Gabriel died before October 14, 1783, because at the death of his benefactor and brother Johann Michael he was no longer alive. After his death, his widow married a second time. Gabriel Wolcker's descendants are only the two half-sisters Maria Anna married Haagen and Ursula married Thalmayer.

  • 1757: Altar sheet (awarding of scapulars) on the south side altar of the parish church Peter and Paul in Oberschwarzach , signed and dated 1757
