Gabriela Ortiz

Gabriela Ortiz Torres (born December 20, 1964 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican composer.

Ortiz studied composition with Mario Lavista at the National Conservatory and with Federico Ibarra at the University of Mexico. In 1990 she received a British Council scholarship to study with Robert Saxton at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama . With a scholarship from the University of Mexico, she began a PhD in electroacoustic music with Simon Emmerson at City University London in 1992 . She teaches composition at the University of Mexico.
