Gabriele Kutschera

Gabriele Kutschera (* 1950 in Vienna ) is an Austrian metal artist and designer of the Nestroy Theater Prize - Statuette . She lives and works in Vienna or in Kösslwang in the market town of Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting ( Upper Austria ) and is considered to be Austria's leading iron sculptor.

Training and work

After graduating from high school, she studied jewelry and metal design at the Academy for Applied Arts and at the University of Applied Arts with Franz Hagenauer .

She has been a freelance artist since 1975. From 1986 to 2001 she was a lecturer for metal design at the Higher Federal College for Artistic Design Herbststrasse in Vienna.

After referring to the functional purpose up to that point, it entered the large dimension of forging around 1990.

In 1991 and 1993 she took part in the World Blacksmiths Congress. She is a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus and the Upper Austrian Art Association . In 2000 she designed the statuette for the Nestroy Theater Prize . In 2008 Kutschera was awarded the Austrian Post Savings Bank Prize by the Vienna Künstlerhaus.
