Gabriele Wesch-Klein

Gabriele Wesch-Klein (* 1956 ) is a German ancient historian and epigraphist .

Gabriele Wesch-Klein studied at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and the University of Osnabrück . She was born in 1986 at the University of Osnabrück on the basis of her dissertation Liberalitas in rem publicam. PhD in private expenditures in favor of communities in Roman Africa up to AD 284 . The habilitation followed with the thesis Social Aspects of the Roman Army in the Imperial Era in 1995 at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . At times Wesch-Klein taught at the University of Bayreuth . She is now an Extraordinary Professor in Heidelberg. She is also a visiting lecturer at theHeidelberg University of Education and worked in March and April 2011 at the Topoi Cluster of Excellence .

Wesch-Klein conducts research on Roman history , the Roman army, Roman social history as well as epigraphy and numismatics .
