Antiquitas is a series of specialist books in the field of classical studies. It appears in four different sub-series:

  • Antiquitas. Series I. Treatises on Ancient History (since 1955)
  • Antiquitas. Series II. Treatises from the area of ​​prehistory and early history (since 1955)
  • Antiquitas. Row III. Treatises on prehistory and early history, on classical and provincial Roman archeology and on the history of antiquity (since 1960)
  • Antiquitas. Series IV. Contributions to Historia Augusta research (since 1963 in three sub-series)
    • Antiquitas. Series IV. Contributions to Historia Augusta Research, Series 1 (since 1963)
    • Antiquitas. Series IV. Contributions to Historia Augusta Research, Series 2: Bibliographies (since 1985)
    • Antiquitas. Series IV. Contributions to Historia Augusta Research, Series 3: Comments (since 1991)

In the first row, among others, Dietmar Kienast , Dieter Timpe , Thomas Pekáry , Klaus M. Girardet , Andreas Alföldi , Géza Alföldy , Karl Strobel , Pedro Barceló , Hartmut Leppin , Wolfgang Will and Adolf Lippold . In addition to monographs, the series also includes edited volumes and Volume 9, a bilingual edition by Strabo . To date, over 50 volumes have been published, mainly in German, but also in English, French and Italian.

In the third row, among others, Andreas Alföldi published, including the pioneering standard works Die Zwei Lorbeerbäume des Augustus (Volume 14, 1973) and Caesar in 44 BC. Chr. (Volumes 16 and 17, 1985 and 1974), Raban von Haehling , Paul Zanker and Erich Kettenhofen . Currently (October 2006) there are 45 individual volumes in the sub-series.

In the fourth row, the Bonn Historia Augusta Colloquia volumes are published first. In addition, volumes by Frank Kolb , Ronald Syme and others have appeared. In the three sub-series, around 30 individual volumes have appeared so far.
