Xenia (series)

Xenia. Konstanzer Lectures on Ancient History and Research is a series of scientific publications in the field of ancient history .

The Xenia series primarily publishes lectures given at the University of Konstanz . In addition, research results produced by scientists from the ancient history chair are published in the series. The ancient Greek word Xenia means something like “gift for a guest” and already in the title refers to lectures by speakers from outside the chair. The series was initially financed by the chair's patron, Heinz E. Breuninger, and after his death by the Breuninger Foundation.

Contributions by Franz Georg Maier , Christoph Börker , Hans-Joachim Gehrke , Kurt Raaflaub , Wolfgang Schuller , Tonio Hölscher , Volkert Haas , Werner Dahlheim , Jürgen von Ungern-Sternberg , Liselot Huchthausen , Frank W. Walbank , William M. Brashear , Gert Audring and Wilfried Nippel . By 2018, more than 50 volumes, all in German, had been published.
