Raban von Haehling

Raban von Haehling (actually Raban Haehling von Lanzenauer , born March 9, 1943 in Breslau ) is a German ancient historian .

Life

Raban von Haehling studied history, theology and Latin philology at the University of Bonn from 1965 to 1975 . As a substitute professor, he taught at the Philipps University of Marburg from 1991 to 1992 . In 1993 he took on a teaching position at the University of Wuppertal . From 1992 to 1995 he taught as a substitute professor at RWTH Aachen University . From 1995 until his retirement in 2008, von Haehling was a full professor at the chair for ancient history. His successor in Aachen was Klaus Freitag . On his 65th birthday, he was by his Aachen students with the commemorative Ille operum custos honored.

Haehling is a specialist in late antiquity and in Greek and Roman historiography .
