Catherine Trumpy

Catherine Trümpy (born January 8, 1956 in Zurich ) is a Swiss classical philologist , comparative linguist and mycenaeologist .

Catherine Trümpy studied Greek , Latin and Ancient History at the University of Geneva from 1975 to 1981 . After graduating in 1981, she became an assistant at the Comparative Linguistics Seminar at the University of Zurich . She received her doctorate there in 1984 with the work Comparing Mycenaean with the language of choral poetry . Between 1987 and 1990 she spent time abroad at Heidelberg University and Stanford University . Trümpy completed his habilitation in Heidelberg in 1991 with investigations into the ancient Greek month names and month sequences , and in July 1991 became a private lecturer at the Classics Department. In 2002 she was appointed adjunct professor there. In Heidelberg, Trümpy is also a lecturer at the Ancient History Seminar at the Center for Classical Studies . In 2000/01 she taught at the University of Bern , in 2001/02 at the University of Basel , since 2004 at the University of Neuchâtel and since 2006 also at the University of Geneva.

Trümpy deals with the Mycenaean language of the Linear B texts and with Greek poetry.
