life and work

youth

Viktor was the first and only child of Alexander Ivanovich Pogodin (* 1922) and Valentina Antonow Rodionowa Pogodin (* 1924). Neither the father nor the mother were artists. The father took part in the Second World War and learned the craft of shoemaker . The mother worked in the “Strahl” shoe factory. Pogodin painted his first pictures in kindergarten. The educators organized an exhibition of the children's best works, at which Viktor's drawings were presented. From 1955 to 1963 he attended school № 65 and was one of the best students in the school. In the school years he was enthusiastic about sculpture, drew and copied drawings from magazines and paintings by other artists. He showed his talent for craft when he built a scooter himself. In 1966 he graduated from evening school for working youth with a certificate of secondary education.

Studies and career

In 1967 he began his studies at the graphic arts faculty of the Omsk Pedagogical University. Mikhail Isaakowitsch Slobodin became his teacher, who immediately discovered his great potential and supported him in his exhibitions. He finished it in 1972 and joined the Soviet Army . He served as a first lieutenant in the Far East . The nature of the Far Eastern country had made a great impression on him: the power and boundlessness of the ocean. After serving in the military, Viktor had time to spark his artistic talent and took part in numerous exhibitions. In the following years Pogodin traveled a lot around the world to look for new impressions for his art. He traveled to Bulgaria , Egypt , Germany , Poland and France . In 1989 Pogodin became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR . This alliance was chaired by Konstantin Juon (1957–1958), Sergei Gerasimow (1958–1964), Boris Ioganson (1965–1968) and Tahir Salahov (1973–1992). He got his own workshop in the center of Omsk on Lenin Street.
