The Gadzhiev Bay ( English , Russian Бухта Гаджиева Buchta Gadschijewa ) is a bay on the East Antarctic George V coast . It is located immediately west of Cape Hudson .
Aerial photos were taken during the US operation Highjump (1946–1947) and in 1958 during a Soviet Antarctic expedition . Scientists on the latter research trip named her after Ilyas Mamedowitsch Gadschiew (1935-2006), lecturer in biology at the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry at the Novosibirsk State University . The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia translated this designation into English.
