Gaetano Greco
Gaetano Greco (* around 1657 in Naples ; † 1728 there ) was an Italian music teacher and composer of the Neapolitan school .
Life
Gaetano Greco was the son of Francesco Greco who taught at the Conservatorio della Pietà dei Turchini from 1648 to 1673 . Gaetano was a student at the Conservatorio dei Poveri di Gesù Cristo in his hometown, as a student of Alessandro Scarlatti , then he worked there as an assistant. From 1696 until his death he was the music director of the Conservatory, followed by Francesco Durante . His students include Domenico Scarlatti and Nicola Antonio Porpora .
With his teaching activity, Greco contributed a lot to the upswing of musical development in his native city at the turn of the century.
