Gaindorf is a district of the city of Vilsbiburg in the Lower Bavarian district of Landshut . Until 1978 he formed an independent community.

The parish village of Gaindorf is located about two kilometers south of Vilsbiburg in the tertiary hill country on the upper Vils . It developed at the intersection of the old Vilstalstraße on the left of the great Vils coming from Velden, and a very old path that, coming from Altötting, crossed the Vils at Gaindorf and led north to Geisenhausen.
history
The Catholic parish church of St. Peter is a late Gothic building from the 15th century, expanded in 1892. The basis of the district court municipality of Gaindorf from 1818 was the unchanged tax district of the same name from 1808. The community belonged to the district court Vilsbiburg , later the district of Vilsbiburg and, in addition to Gaindorf, included the towns of Berg, Blamberg, Bürg, Eck, Frauenhaarbach, Herrnfelden, Ippenberg, Oberlanding, Pfaffenbach, Pirken, Schaidham, Seidlhub, Streunweinmühle, Tannet, Unterlanding and Wölflau. As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality of Gaindorf was incorporated into the city of Vilsbiburg on May 1, 1978. The place Ippenberg has been near Geisenhausen since January 1, 1979.
