Gaius Asinius Pollio (Consul 23)
Gaius Asinius Pollio was a member of the Asinians living in the early Roman Empire and was a consul in AD 23 .
Gaius Asinius Pollio was a grandson of the politician and historian of the same name and probably the eldest son of the consul from 8 BC. BC, Gaius Asinius Gallus , with Vipsania Agrippina , the previous wife of Tiberius . In 20 AD he held the office of Praetor peregrinus and three years later rose to full consul with Gaius Antistius Vetus . According to coins, he later became proconsul of the Roman province of Asia , but not until around 38/39 AD, because his father had poor relations with Emperor Tiberius due to his marriage.
