The Gal Oya is a coastal river in the east of Sri Lanka .

The Gal Oya rises in the mountains east of Badulla , first flows east and then turns north just before it flows into the Bay of Bengal . At Ingniyakala , the water of the Gal Oya is collected in a reservoir called Senanayake Samudra , the largest in the country.
