9.18

Galen is a small impact crater in the rugged area between the Mond-Apeninnen in the west and the Montes Haemus in the east. It is located south-southeast of the slightly larger Aratus crater . Further to the west is the Conon crater on the flanks of the Montes Apenninus .

The circular crater with its sharp edge and bowl-shaped interior shows no major traces of erosion. The small crater floor has a lower albedo than the crater walls.

Marriage Galen in 1973 by the International Astronomical Union got its own name (IAU), he was appointed as satellite crater Aratus called Aratus A out.
