Schadeck gallery grave

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The gallery grave Schadeck is a possible megalithic grave complex from the Neolithic near Schadeck , a district of Runkel in the Limburg-Weilburg district ( Hesse ). The complex was discovered in 1939 and archaeologically examined in the same year . An east-west oriented dry stone wall with a length of 1.3 m and a height of 0.5 m was found, next to which a 1.8 m long, north-south oriented irregular row of stone blocks ran. Furthermore, a stone slab with a length of 1 m and a width of 0.5 m was found. Skeletal remains were not found. The few ceramic shards found could only generally be classified as prehistoric. The system was initially interpreted as a possible stone box or as a house floor plan. In 1981 another slab made of green sandstone was found at the site of the plant . It has a length of 1.2 m and a width of 0.6 m.
