Kerstin Schierhold (* 1977 ) is a German prehistorian .

Life

From 1996 to 2003 Schierhold studied Prehistory and Early History , Classical Archeology , Ancient History and Latin Philology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . As a student assistant, she worked, among other things, on the publication of the series Prehistoric Bronze Finds . In February 2003, she submitted her master's thesis on the subject of large-format anthropomorphic terracottas in the Aegean Bronze Age . After a short internship , she started her doctoral studies in Münster in July 2003 . From August 2003 to July 2007 she worked as a research assistant at the Roman-Germanic Commission of the German Archaeological Institute and from August 2007 to June 2009 as a research assistant again in the edition project Prehistoric Bronze Finds. In December 2008 she presented her dissertation on the subject of studies on Hessian-Westphalian megalithics: current research status and perspectives taking into account the European context .

Between July 2009 and May 2015, Schierhold worked as a research assistant in the project Genesis and Structure of Hessian-Westphalian Megalithics using the example of the Soester Group , a sub-project of the priority program 1400 Early Monumentality and Social Differentiation. On the origin and development of large Neolithic buildings and the first complex societies in northern Central Europe of the German Research Foundation . She led archaeological excavations at two Neolithic gallery graves in Erwitte - Schmerlecke and prospecting in their vicinity. Since June 2015 she has been the coordinator of the Megalithic in Westphalia project, which was jointly carried out by the University of Münster and LWL-Archeologie für Westfalen .
