The Galicia Peak (English; Bulgarian връх Галисия wrach Galissija ) is a 4500 m high peak in the Vinson massif of the Sentinel Range in the Ellsworth Mountains of the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . It rises 5.02 km south of Mount Shinn , 2.62 km north-northwest of the summit of Mount Vinson , 0.84 km north of Branscomb Peak and 5.5 km east-southeast of Knutzen Peak . The Jacobsen Valley is to the east and the Branscomb Glacier is to the north and west of it.
American scientists mapped it in 1988. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2010 after the Spanish region of Galicia , from which Miguel Ángel comes, who on December 28, 2004 succeeded in the first ascent of the summit.
