Galip İyitanır

Galip İyitanır (born April 29, 1950 in Ankara , Turkey ) is a German-Turkish documentary film - director and editor of an Oscar-winning film.

Life

After primary school in Lycée, he attended the University of Applied Sciences for Electrical Engineering in Ankara. Then he came to West Berlin. After language training at the Goethe Institute, he began to study German Philology at the TU Berlin. In addition to his studies, he worked as a lecturer for Turkish literature at the Neukölln Adult Education Center.

After completing his studies, he first worked as an assistant editor and later as an editor for numerous cinema and television films. He took over the production and dramaturgy for the play "Sheikh Bedreddin". His first directorial work was in 2004 the documentary "Olga Benario, a life for the revolution".

As early as 1990 he was responsible for the section of Journey of Hope responsible, who in 1991 won the Best Foreign Language Oscar for Switzerland.

Galip İyitanır lives in Cologne.
