The Galkin Nunatak is an isolated and around 1500 m high nunatak in the southern center of the Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises 56 km northwest of Mount Coman .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it on the basis of its own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from the years 1961 to 1967. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1968 after the American meteorologist William L. Galkin (* 1939), who between 1965 and 1966 worked on the Byrd station .
