Gallery is the name of a soft rock band from Detroit , Michigan , which was also internationally successful in the early 1970s with the hit Nice to Be with You .
history
The band consisted of Jim Gold (vocals, guitar), Dennis Korvarik (bass, vocals), Cal Freeman (steel guitar), Bill Nova (percussion, guitar, vocals), Brent Anderson (lead guitar, vocals) and Danny Brucato (drums).
With the song Nice to Be with You written by Gold , an easily digestible hit with a country taste, Gallery achieved its first and at the same time biggest hit parade in spring 1972, as well as the award of a gold record . The song also hit the charts in Germany, as did the German version It's nice to be with you by Michael Holm . Gallery was under contract with the small record label Sussex, and in Germany their records were released on A&M Records ( distributed by Ariola ).
The follow-up single I Believe in Music in the fall of 1972 was a cover version and originally by Mac Davis . It reached the top 30 of the US Billboard charts , as did the third single Big City Miss Ruth Ann . From the second LP in 1973, the band's releases were credited with Gallery featuring Jim Gold . Since the commercial success for the singles decoupled from this album failed to materialize, the group stopped their activities and Jim Gold started a solo career.
