Gamera - Guardian of the Universe ( Japanese ガ メ ラ 大 怪 獣 空中 決 戦 , Gamera: Daikaijū Kūchū Kessen , Eng . "Gamera: Riesenmonster-Luftentscheidungsschlacht") is a Japanese film about the monster Gamera , which made its debut in Germany at the 1995 Fantasy Film Festival celebrated. The special thing about the film is that it is the first in the new Gamera series. The film makes use of the familiar stylistic elements of a classic Kaijū film, such as people in rubber suits and model buildings, but also relies on CGI and blue screens .

The film was released after the Fantasy Filmfest 1995, on March 24, 2011 DVD with German dubbing.

action

The monster is shown here as a weapon of an ancient civilization that was created through genetic experiments. The gyaos, man-eating pterosaurs, who represent the opponents in the film, are also the product of the experiments of this civilization. Both the gamera and the gyaos were dormant for a long time after the disappearance of this civilization, until the gyaos awakened again at the end of the 20th century. They immediately start attacking people, sometimes wiping out entire cities. As the humans try to get the threat under control and catch the flying lizards, Gamera shows up. The military initially sees him as a greater threat and tries to kill him, but eventually a massive super gyaos emerges against whom the military is absolutely powerless. In a long struggle and with the support of a few people, Gamera finally succeeds in destroying it.
