Gaminolf

Gaminolf (* around 900; † May 22, 979 ) was Bishop of Constance from 975 to 979 .

Life

Gaminolf came from the Guelph line . Its name goes back to the palate , which means to guard . Some sources classify him as a member of the Westhusen family in Alsace.

He was a monk on the Reichenau and was elected Bishop of Constance in 975. He was ordained bishop by Bishop Willigis of Mainz and Bishop Erkanbald of Strasbourg in Erstein .

During his tenure, Gaminolf inaugurated the St. Blasien monastery in the Black Forest .

He contracted smallpox during his tenure ; the well-known doctor Notker who was appointed refused treatment.
