The passage grave of Herthum (also called Westerloh II) is a Neolithic passage grave with the Sprockhoff no. 863. It originated between 3500 and 2800 BC. And is a megalithic system of the funnel beaker culture (TBK).
location
The large stone grave of Herthum is located east of the village of Westerloh , a district of Haselünne in the Emsland district in Lower Saxony . It is located on the street Zum Herethum .
description
The 5.0 × 1.5 meter east-west oriented chamber lies deep in the ground. One is missing from the original ten bearing stones and the four cap stones. Only one of the access stones is in situ . A beam and the capstone of the entrance, which is located in the middle of the south side, are missing. There is no evidence of an enclosure or a hill. In 1835 an excavation was carried out in which ceramic shards and flint axes of the funnel beaker culture came to light.
Nearby is the better preserved Westerloh I facility .
