Ganyie Touray

Alhaji Ganyie Touray (born December 24, 1950 in Ballangharr ) is a politician and was the governor of the Gambian Central River Region (CRR).

Life

Touray was initially a member of the People's Progressive Party (PPP) and was one of the founding fathers of the United Democratic Party (UDP) in 1996 . In August 2006, he left UDP and joined the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC).

On June 19, 2007, Touray was appointed governor, he has been the eighth holder of this office since 1996. He replaces Amulie Janneh , who is retiring. On May 20, 2014, Touray was removed from office and replaced by Omar Khan .
