Omar Khan

Alhaji Omar Abu Khan (* 20th century ) is the acting governor of the Gambian Upper River Region (URR).

Life

In 2003 Khan was appointed governor of the Upper River Region (URR) by President Yahya Jammeh .

At the end of 2007, Khan was accused of abuse of office, reportedly sexually molesting a Nigerian nurse and abusing his position.

There was confusion in April 2011, after a report, Khan was replaced by Kanimang Sanneh on April 28, 2011 . The next day his reinstatement as governor was announced. In September 2013, Khan was replaced by Kanimang Sanneh. In May 2014, he became governor of the Central River Region (CRR). In early February 2017, Khan was removed from this post by the new Adama Barrow government .
