The Progressive Center is an independent left-liberal think tank in the legal form of a registered association (eV). It was founded in 2007 and is based in Berlin .

General

The think tank was initiated, among others, by the publicist Tobias Dürr and the former director of the London think tank Policy Network Olaf Cramme . It deals thematically in particular with European integration and the reform capability of democratic institutions, but also with labor , social and economic policy issues. This also includes questions about how to deal with right-wing populism and how to shape the new world of work fairly. To this end, the work of the Progressive Center is divided into three program areas: international relations, the future of democracy and structural change.

In terms of political ideas, the association invokes Amartya Sen's approach to realizing opportunities and derives its name from its reference to progressivism . Accordingly, he puts his focus on social innovation and wants to progress-oriented society visions make a majority.

The main part of the work is the publication of publications such as studies, “policy briefs” and opinion pieces, as well as the organization of national and international conferences and discussions, mostly with representatives from politics, science, business and civil society.
