Krytyka Polityczna

Krytyka Polityczna ("Political Criticism", KP) is a Polish magazinefounded in2002 by Sławomir Sierakowski , which isattributed tothe new left .

It appears irregularly, usually two or three times a year, with each issue devoted to a specific topic. By October 2015, there were 34 issues, some of which appeared as double issues and mostly comprised several hundred pages. In a broader sense, the name Krytyka Polityczna stands for a loose connection between people who publish regularly in the magazine or who are close to it and who strive for greater cooperation between the fields of science, art and politics. Since 2007 there has been a book publisher associated with the magazine (Wydawnictwo Krytyki Politycznej) , which has published translations by Zygmunt Bauman , Judith Butler , Bruno Latour , Thomas Piketty , Chantal Mouffe , Thomas Pikkety, Jacques Rancière , Peter Sloterdijk and Slavoj Žižek , among others .

In 2006, the REDakcja cultural center (“REDaktion”) was founded in Warsaw , where discussions, presentations of artistic works, workshops and film screenings take place and social and political projects are developed. Since 2007 KP has been pursuing the goal of establishing institutions across the country in collaboration with local actors to organize debates and other activities. So far, larger institutions (świetlice) have been founded in Cieszyn , Łódź and in the greater Gdansk area, as well as smaller “clubs” in 15 other locations. In spring 2011, the first clubs outside of Poland opened in London and Kiev .

Since 2012, KP has published new reports and longer opinions several times a day on the main page of its Internet portal under the title Dziennik Opinii (“daily opinion newspaper”). For this project she receives support from the Trust for Civil Society in Central and Eastern Europe and the Open Society Foundations from George Soros as well as funding from the Polish Ministry of Culture .

At the end of 2012, KP founded the Instytut Studiów Zaawansowanych (for example, “Institute for Higher Studies”) for research and political education, based on the model of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton . In addition to its event activities, it awards grants for research stays by foreign scientists in Poland and for Polish scientists abroad. The advisory board of the institute includes a.
