The Tricity (Polish Trójmiasto [ trujˈmʲastɔ ], Kashubian Trzëgard ) is an urban agglomeration in the Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland . The three cities of Gdańsk ( Danzig ), Gdynia ( Gdynia ) and Sopot ( Sopot ) committed themselves to closer cooperation in 2007 in the “Karta Trójmiasta” (Tricity Charter). The three cities border each other and are located on the Danzig Bay ( Baltic Sea ).
Wejherowo ( Neustadt in Westpr. ), Reda ( Rheda ) and Rumia ( Rahmel ) also belong to the greater Tricity area ; these are called the little tri -city.

traffic
The Tricity has a well-developed common local transport system. In addition, each has its own public transport. Only public transport is described below.
In 1951 an S-Bahn ( Szybka Kolej Miejska w Trójmieście , SKM ) traffic was established. This included the entire region from Tczew via Danzig, Sopot 1953, Gdynia 1956, Reda, Rumia to Wejherowo 1957.
The backbone of road traffic is a multi-lane expressway from Gdansk via Sopot, Gdynia, Reda and Rumia to Wejherowo.
In 1975 a multi-lane ring expressway was built, which runs from Pruszcz Gdański via Danzig to Gdynia- Chylonia . An extension to Wejherowo is planned.
